WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred overnight in the village.
The incident took place during the overnight hours of June 27, 2026, in the area of East Main Street and Market Street, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said there is no active threat in the area.
The investigation is being led by the New York State Attorney General’s Office, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting in New York State.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
