MANCHESTER, NH — A Bedford man suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle crash after he was thrown over a guardrail and landed along a riverbank.
Just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, State Troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks and personnel from the Manchester Fire Department responded to a reported crash involving a motorcycle on the Exit 5 off-ramp on Interstate 293 northbound.
Bystanders reported observing a motorcycle on its side and the sound of someone yelling for help coming from the bank of the Merrimack River.
When they arrived, Troopers located a damaged black 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle on the off-ramp.
During a search of the area, the motorcycle rider was located off the right side of the ramp, along the river.
The Manchester Fire Department deployed a boat team from the east side of the river and rescued the injured motorcyclist.
Troopers have determined that, as a result of the crash, the motorcyclist, identified as Youseff Mahgoub, 23, of Bedford, was thrown over the guardrail and fell to the riverbank.
Mahgoub was transported to an area hospital and was last listed in critical condition.
A portion of the off-ramp was closed for just over two hours.
All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
