SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT — Vermont State Police have cited a Burlington man in connection with an incident in which a trooper was injured after a state police van window was smashed during a March protest.

Colin Wesley Palmer, 24, of Burlington, was issued a citation Friday evening through his attorney, Robert Appel, on charges of aggravated disorderly conduct and simple assault.

The incident occurred about 6:53 p.m. March 11 on Dorset Street in South Burlington.

State police said Palmer smashed the window of a VSP van as troopers were attempting to leave the area following a protest.

Damage to the van was estimated at $500, and a trooper received an eye injury from flying glass.

Vermont State Police received multiple tips from the public and troopers who were present at the scene subsequently identified Palmer as the individual responsible.

Palmer is due to appear for arraignment July 28 in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Burlington.
