ROCHESTER, NY — New York State Police are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash that occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. on June 26, 2026, on the Rochester Inner Loop.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2024 Honda CR-V, operated by a 39-year-old woman, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Inner Loop against the flow of traffic.
The Honda collided head-on with an eastbound 2012 Ford Fusion operated by a 21-year-old man, with a 21-year-old male passenger.
Following the initial head-on collision, the Ford Fusion entered the path of a 2012 Jeep Liberty operated by Marvin T. Harmon, 29, of Rochester, resulting in a secondary collision.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Ford Fusion were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 39-year-old woman became unresponsive at the scene and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Harmon was evaluated at the scene before being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and has ordered autopsies.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed and reconstructed the scene.
Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Inner Loop remain closed.
Motorists are advised to follow posted detours and seek alternate routes while the investigation continues.
