Motorcyclist injured in crash in Gouverneur

GOUVERNEUR, NY — New York State Police responded to State Highway 58 in the town of Gouverneur for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on June 23, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m.

An investigation determined that a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on State Highway 58 when the operator failed to observe a 2015 Toyota RAV4 that had stopped in the roadway with its turn signal activated while awaiting to make a left turn onto Old Route 58.

The motorcycle subsequently struck the rear of the Toyota, causing the operator to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle was identified as James M. Wright, 65, of Gouverneur.

Wright was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries.

He remains hospitalized and is currently listed in stable condition.

The operator of the Toyota was identified as Brandon W. Corbine, 39, of Gouverneur.

Corbine was not injured in the collision.
