BINGHAMTON, NY — A man was arrested following an investigation into an alleged threatening social media comment directed at a New York State Senator.
James A. Crosby, 49, of Binghamton, was arrested June 23, 2026, by members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Crosby was charged with making a terroristic threat as a hate crime, a class C felony.
The investigation determined that Crosby posted a threatening comment on Facebook in response to a WBNG news story featuring State Senator Lea Webb at a Juneteenth event.
Crosby was transported to the Broome County Jail for centralized arraignment.
During the investigation, State Police determined that Crosby was in possession of firearms despite being prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior felony conviction.
Investigators recovered a rifle, a large capacity ammunition feeding device and a firearm suppressor, all of which are prohibited under New York State law.
Crosby was additionally charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, class D felonies.
