Seven injured in crash involving runaway horse in Little Valley

LITTLE VALLEY, NY — Seven people were injured in a motor vehicle accident on Route 353 on June 23, 2026.

A southbound vehicle struck a runaway horse at 1:56 p.m. and subsequently collided head-on with a northbound vehicle, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Two adults and five children were injured in the collision with varying injuries.

The adults were transported to ECMC and the children were transported to Golisano Children’s Hospital.

A third adult was transported to ECMC after being thrown from a horse prior to the collision with the vehicle.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Cattaraugus County Emergency Services, Little Valley Fire Department, Cattaraugus Fire Department, Randolph Regional EMS, Salamanca City Fire Department, Seneca Nation Fire Department, Seneca EMS, Trans AM Ambulance, Ellicottville/Great Valley EMS, Mercy Flight, STAT MedEvac and LifeNet of NY 7-7.

The collision remains under investigation.
