MANCHESTER, NH — A Manchester man faces assault charges after a shooting at a restaurant on Lake Avenue.
Manchester Police responded to Sunny’s Hot Chicken at 196 Lake Ave at approximately 9:30 p.m. June 19, 2026, for a reported shooting.
Officers learned that two men had an altercation inside the restaurant and one had pulled out a gun and shot the other.
The victim left the restaurant and was located a short distance away in front of the Residence Inn on Lake Avenue.
The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was immediately taken to a local hospital where he is now in stable condition.
The suspect was not on scene when police arrived, but later that night turned himself in to Manchester Police.
The suspect was identified as Abdi Hassan, 23, of Manchester.
Hassan was charged with first degree assault and attempted first degree assault.
