STROUDSBURG, PA — A man faces multiple charges including aggravated assault and robbery following a domestic incident and subsequent foot chase on June 19.

Stroud Area Regional Police were dispatched to West Main Street in Stroud Township at 2:30 p.m. for a domestic assault.

The victim reported that her child’s father attacked her, put his hands around her throat, broke into her car and took her keys, money and phone while taunting her before fleeing the scene.

Investigation involving witness statements and video footage confirmed the suspect’s actions.

The suspect was identified as Christopher Ryan Petrides, 27, of Effort.

An officer responding to the call observed Petrides riding a bicycle traveling east on West Main Street.

The officer attempted to stop Petrides using lights, siren and the vehicle’s public address system.

Petrides continued to ride the bike in the wrong lane of travel, drove on sidewalks and ultimately abandoned the bicycle in the parking lot of 1230 West Main Street in Stroudsburg Borough before fleeing on foot.

Officers attempted to take Petrides into custody, but he fought with officers while actively resisting arrest.

Additional officers were required to take him into custody.

One officer sustained a cut on his hand during the arrest.

While officers stood Petrides up to place him into a patrol car, he continued to resist arrest, kicking himself off the vehicle and kicking an officer, causing injury.

Petrides then had to be restrained so he could no longer kick.

Once secured, Petrides received medical treatment for scrapes he received during the arrest.

He was transported to Stroud Area Regional Police headquarters where charges were prepared against him.

Petrides was then transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility where he is awaiting arraignment.
