HINGHAM, MA — A 63-year-old driver suffered serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on New Bridge Street on June 12, 2026.
Officers responded to the crash near 63 New Bridge St. at 6:28 a.m. and found one driver injured and trapped inside his truck.
The other driver was not injured.
Hingham firefighters freed the trapped driver by cutting portions of the Toyota truck.
He was transported to South Shore Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle involved, a Chevrolet truck, had minor damage and was not towed.
Investigation showed both trucks had been heading north on New Bridge Street in the same direction with the Chevrolet in front.
The Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass the Chevrolet by crossing over the solid center line.
As it passed, it struck the left side of the Chevrolet.
The impact caused the Toyota to lose control and strike a tree directly on the driver’s door.
The Toyota driver was cited for negligent operation, speeding and marked lanes/improper passing.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
