Motorcyclist killed in collision in Oswegatchie

OSWEGATCHIE, NY — New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on State Highway 37 on June 13, 2026, at approximately 10:51 p.m.

An investigation determined that a blue 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by Austin L. Thomas, 23, of Brier Hill, and a white 2010 Mercury passenger vehicle, operated by Christine Best, 56, of Ogdensburg, were both traveling west on State Highway 37 when the motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle, ejecting Thomas from the motorcycle.

Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and immediately initiated life-saving measures on Thomas.

Despite those efforts, the St. Lawrence County Coroner responded to the scene and pronounced Thomas deceased.

He was subsequently removed from the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at Canton-Potsdam Hospital on June 16, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
