CANTON, NY — New York State Police charged two people in connection with a larceny at a Canton Walmart on June 10.
Tanya M. Sochia, 42, of Norfolk, was charged with conspiracy in the 5th degree on June 11.
John G. Barto, 51, of Brasher Falls, was charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree and conspiracy in the 5th degree.
Troopers responded to the Walmart on U.S. Highway 11 at approximately 5:39 p.m. on June 10 for a larceny complaint.
An investigation determined two individuals entered the store and stole merchandise valued at approximately $1,358.17 by passing all points of purchase without paying.
The individuals were stopped and questioned by store personnel before leaving the location.
Further investigation identified the individuals as Barto and Sochia.
They were later located and transported to SP Canton for processing.
Barto and Sochia were arraigned in the Town of Norfolk Court and released on their own recognizance.
