Fraud suspect steals $2,224 from victim in Liberty Township

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, PA — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fraud and theft incident in which a suspect posing as a credit union employee stole more than $2,000 from a victim.

On May 8, 2026, the victim was contacted via a blocked phone number by a suspect claiming to be an employee of the Patriot Credit Union located in Waynesboro.

The suspect had the victim’s bank account information prior to the call and coerced the victim into providing a debit card.

The suspect traveled to the victim’s home in Liberty Township and obtained a debit card.

He then proceeded to an ATM located in a Target in Hanover, where he withdrew $508.

The total loss for the victim was $2,224.

The suspect was operating a black BMW displaying an unknown Virginia registration.
