Two arrested on drug trafficking charges in Albany Township

ALBANY TOWNSHIP, ME — Two people were arrested on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop early June 3.

An Oxford County deputy initiated the traffic stop for a minor traffic violation in the area of Hunts Corner Road and Vernon Street at approximately 12:45 a.m.

During the roadside investigation, the deputy identified drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, according to Sheriff Christopher Wainwright.

The occupants were identified as Robert Whitney, 45, of Albany Township, and Katelynn Giasson, 37, of Lewiston.

Both were arrested and transported to the Oxford County Jail.

Whitney was charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs (cocaine), possession of Schedule X drugs (psilocybin/mushrooms), falsifying physical evidence and violation of conditions of release.

Giasson was charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, possession of Schedule X drugs and violations of conditions of release.

The vehicle was towed and impounded.

Whitney has been released from the Oxford County Jail with bail conditions.

Giasson remains incarcerated with two active sets of bail conditions.

The investigation is ongoing.
