Counterfeit money used at store in Montville

MONTVILLE, CT — Police are seeking to identify two people suspected of using counterfeit bills at a dollar store.

The incident occurred on May 22, 2026, at approximately 11:33 p.m. at the Dollar General located at 1981 Route 32.

Two individuals allegedly used eight counterfeit $50 bills to purchase merchandise, according to the Montville Police Department.

The total amount of counterfeit currency used was $400.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact the Montville Police Department at 860-848-7510 and ask for Officer Hughes.

The case number is 26-00005885.
