Man arrested on threatening, breach of peace charges in Derby

DERBY, CT — A Derby man was arrested after allegedly threatening people while yelling racial obscenities in a crowded area.

Adam Winkler, 39, of Derby, was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with second-degree threatening and breach of peace.

Police said they remain committed to maintaining public safety and preserving the peace for all members of the community.

The department said that while individuals have constitutional rights to free expression, behavior that disrupts public order and threatens the safety or well-being of others will be addressed appropriately.
