Man arrested on DUI charge in Bristol

BRISTOL, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a Starksboro man on a DUI charge following a single-vehicle crash on Monkton Road on June 2, 2026.

Jacques H. Bickford, 24, was traveling southbound on Monkton Road south of Bristol Pond Fishing access at approximately 4:45 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, according to police.

Bickford’s 2013 Toyota Camry crossed the centerline and traveled across the northbound lane onto the shoulder of the roadway, where it struck a telephone pole, causing the pole to break.

State Police detected signs of impairment and took Bickford into custody for suspicion of DUI.

He was transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.

Bickford was released on a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court Criminal Division on June 22, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. to answer the charge of DUI.

Weather and road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash.

Vermont State Police were assisted by the Bristol Police Department and the Bristol Fire Department.
