Woman cited for retail theft in Palmer

PALMER, PA — Police arrested a woman on a retail theft charge May 19 after she allegedly stole merchandise from Boscov’s department store.

Palmer Township Police responded to the store at 2455 Park Ave. at approximately 1:16 p.m. for a report of a retail theft in progress.

Loss prevention staff provided a description of the female suspect, who entered a gold Toyota sedan with New Jersey registration and drove off the mall property.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Police identified the operator as Stephanie Porto, 37, of Pennsylvania.

Loss prevention confirmed Porto had been inside the store and stole $78 in merchandise.

Porto was placed into custody and transported to the Palmer Police Station for processing.

She was issued a non-traffic citation for retail theft and released.
