Firearm arrests in Hartford

HARTFORD, CT — Hartford police arrested three people after a vehicle stop Thursday led to the recovery of two handguns, including one equipped with an auto-sear switch, police said.

Members of the Hartford Police Street Crimes Unit attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Mather Street and Garden Street on May 7, police said.

Police said the driver did not obey an officer’s emergency signal and tried to flee in reverse.

Because of the vehicle’s reckless operation, officers deployed a tire deflation device, police said.

The vehicle then fled and was later seen releasing a passenger while still in motion at the intersection of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue, according to police.

Police said the passenger fell into the roadway while carrying two handguns.

Officers took that suspect into custody without incident and recovered both firearms, police said.

The vehicle continued north on Main Street, where the remaining occupants abandoned it at the intersection of Rosemont Street, according to police.

Two suspects who fled from the vehicle were taken into custody shortly afterward without incident, police said.

Police identified those arrested as Andre Freckleton, 20, of Hartford; Rhaquise Burgos, 18, of Bloomfield; and Donique Morgan, 18, of Hartford.

Freckleton was charged with interfering with police, weapons in a motor vehicle and criminal possession of ammunition, police said.

Burgos was charged with interfering with police and weapons in a motor vehicle, according to police.

Morgan was charged with interfering with police, weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a high-capacity magazine and possession of a machine gun, police said.

Police said officers recovered a Glock Model 19 9mm firearm equipped with a threaded barrel, an auto-sear switch and a high-capacity magazine containing nine live 9mm rounds.

Police also recovered a black Polymer 80 9mm ghost gun equipped with a high-capacity magazine and one live 9mm round, according to police.
