The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 119 Clermont Terrace. Attendees can receive application assistance and take a brief tour of either or both properties. RSVPs are encouraged by calling 802-535-3555.

The development includes newly built family-sized townhouse units and smaller garden flats at a Newport Center location near the Newport Town School, as well as smaller units in the renovated historic Sacred Heart Convent, which is adjacent to existing neighborhoods and within walking distance of downtown.

Both properties were built on remediated brownfield sites. The units are permanently affordable and do not carry rental subsidies, according to RuralEdge.

Most rents are set between $933 and $1,343 per month and include heat, hot water, electricity, air conditioning, trash removal, parking, property-wide Wi-Fi and on-site laundry.

Applications can also be submitted online at ruraledge.org/apply or by requesting a paper application at 802-535-3555.

The event is co-hosted by the Northeast Kingdom Collaborative, a regional nonprofit that has identified housing as one of the most pressing issues facing the Northeast Kingdom. A public open house and groundbreaking ceremony are planned for this summer.
