Pickup driver killed in crash with school bus in Marlborough

MARLBOROUGH, NH — A pickup truck driver was killed Friday morning after colliding head-on with a school bus carrying 13 students.

The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on Route 12 near Webb Depot Road.

David Peloski, 74, of Swanzey, was driving a red 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck south on Route 12 when he struck a northbound school bus head-on, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Peloski, the sole occupant of the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The school bus, driven by James French, 77, of Keene, was carrying 13 children from Monadnock Regional Middle High School at the time of the crash.

French was transported to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Some students were taken to an area hospital as a precaution, but no serious injuries were reported.

Troopers assigned to the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit are leading the investigation.

Marlborough police and fire departments are assisting.
