HORNELL, NY — A 65-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a disturbance at an Applebee’s restaurant.
John G. Gathenya, of Dansville, New York, was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.
The City of Hornell Police Department was made aware of the disturbance on May 10, 2026.
An investigation into the incident alleges that Gathenya grabbed a victim and refused to let go during the May 9, 2026, incident at the restaurant in the city of Hornell.
Gathenya was taken into custody without incident on May 13, 2026.
He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Hornell City Court at a later date.
