Man arrested on weapons, assault charges in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, NY — New York State Police arrested a man following a domestic incident involving a firearm on May 9, 2026.

Police responded to a residence on State Route 13 in the town of Williamstown at approximately 8:57 a.m.

An investigation determined that Damien D. Bolster, 24, of Altmar, became involved in multiple verbal and physical altercations with household members.

During the incident, Bolster allegedly assaulted another individual, damaged property inside the residence, threatened occupants while in possession of a rifle, and strangled a female victim during a domestic dispute.

Bolster was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D felony; two counts of strangulation in the 2nd degree, class D felonies; menacing in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor.

The investigation revealed Bolster has prior felony convictions, making him prohibited from possessing firearms.

Bolster was transported to State Police Pulaski for processing and then to the Oswego County Jail pending centralized arraignment.

He was held pending a bail hearing in Oswego County Court due to prior felony convictions.

A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order investigation was also initiated in connection with the incident.
