SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a Southington man on shoplifting and drug charges after he was caught concealing items at a Target store.
John W. Sipper, 36, of Southington, was arrested Friday at 6:13 p.m. at the Target store at 125 Buckland Hills Drive.
Officers responded to the store for a report of a known shoplifter actively concealing items throughout the store.
Sipper was located and arrested.
During a search incident to arrest, officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
He was charged with criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree, possession of a controlled substance (first offense) and use of drug paraphernalia.
Sipper was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 27 at 9 a.m.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a Berlin man on a drunken driving charge following a traffic stop.
Joseph A. Rocco, 63, of Berlin, was arrested Friday at 9:01 p.m.
Officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Buckland Road and Deming Street when they observed a vehicle make an improper turn.
The vehicle was stopped, and during the investigation, officers believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Rocco consented to standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.
He was charged with operating under the influence and improper turn.
Rocco was processed and released on a $2,000 non-surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 1 at 9 a.m.
