GREECE, NY — Police arrested a Verizon store employee May 7, 2026, after he allegedly handed his manager a note claiming he had a bomb.
Greece Police officers responded to the Verizon store at 3208 Latta Road at approximately 3:53 p.m. in response to a report of a bomb threat.
Officers determined that an employee had passed a handwritten note to the store manager stating, “I have a bomb. Don’t be a hero.”
Officers coordinated with store staff and safely escorted the employee from the business, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Alfonso Williams, 29, of Rochester.
As a precaution, the Verizon store and two neighboring businesses were evacuated while Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Police Department K-9 units conducted nitrate sweeps of the area.
No explosive devices or hazardous materials were located.
Officers also searched Williams’ vehicle, yielding negative results.
During the investigation, officers determined that Williams delivered the note to his boss, later claiming it was intended as a joke inspired by online prank videos he had seen.
Williams was charged with making a terroristic threat and transported to the county jail for arraignment.
