FONDA, NY — State Police arrested a former nonprofit director accused of stealing more than $50,000 from an organization that empowers young women.
Nicole S. Weigel, 44, of Fonda, was arrested May 5, 2026, and charged with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony.
State Police received a complaint in October 2025 from the Otsego County-based nonprofit organization.
An investigation determined that Weigel worked for the organization from March 2023 until October 2025 as a council director, managing financial aspects.
Police said Weigel allegedly mismanaged funds for personal gain while employed in that position.
The New York State Comptroller’s Office assisted in the investigation.
Weigel was processed at State Police barracks in Fonda.
She was transported to Otsego County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, where she was released on her own recognizance.
