PENN YAN, NY — A woman was arrested for allegedly making a false 911 call about a domestic incident that police say never occurred.
Britteny A. Downs, 31, of Penn Yan, was arrested for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 3rd Degree.
Police said Downs called 911 on April 28, 2026, and reported that a physical domestic incident was occurring in a neighboring apartment and that a resident was holding a knife to another individual’s neck.
Following an investigation, police determined that the incident never occurred.
Police made contact with Downs on May 6, 2026, and she was taken into custody without incident.
Downs was issued an appearance ticket to Penn Yan Village Court to appear at a later date.
