HACKENSACK, NJ — A 34-year-old man faces multiple charges including domestic violence simple assault and aggravated assault on a police officer following an incident early Monday morning.
Rashaun A. Hawes, of Leesburg, New Jersey, was arrested after Hackensack police officers responded to a noise complaint on Main Street at 1:32 a.m. on May 4.
Officers observed a group of four males arguing on the sidewalk.
Hawes entered a parked car and repeatedly punched a male victim who was later determined to be related to him, police said.
Hawes was immediately handcuffed at the scene.
While at police headquarters, Hawes allegedly spit on officers, kicked a computer desk, physically resisted entering a cell, and refused to be fingerprinted, according to police.
During transport to jail, Hawes broke the interior door panel of the police car by repeatedly kicking it, police said.
Hawes was charged with simple assault, aggravated assault on a police officer by spitting, criminal mischief, and refusing to be fingerprinted.
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on complaint warrants pending his first appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
