Woman arrested on arson, attempted murder charges in Knox

KNOX, ME — A woman was arrested and charged with arson and attempted murder after a fire at a residence on Bailey Road on Monday night.

The Waldo County Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 10:43 p.m. from an individual at 1647 Bailey Road reporting a fire at the residence.

Deputies from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and the Knox Fire Department responded to the scene.

Occupants of the home suppressed the fire using a fire extinguisher and water before emergency personnel arrived.

The fire was primarily contained to a single bedroom.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal was notified due to suspicious circumstances.

Fire Marshal investigators responded and determined the fire had been intentionally set.

Jessica Allsop, 41, of Knox, who had been temporarily staying at the residence, was taken into custody by Fire Marshal investigators and transported to the Waldo County Jail.

Allsop has been charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, arson and violation of conditions of release.

She is being held without bail at the Waldo County Jail.

The two other occupants of the home were evaluated on scene by local ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.

Several dogs were also inside the residence at the time of the fire and all escaped without injury.
