Woman arrested in fatal 2024 shooting in Waterbury, CT

WATERBURY, CT — A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in January 2024.

Desire Aitken, 19, of Waterbury, was located in Pennsylvania and taken into custody on April 10 for her involvement in the shooting death of Keno Williams.

Aitken was extradited from Pennsylvania on May 1 and transported back to the Waterbury Police Department, where her warrant was served.

On Jan. 30, 2024, at 7:49 p.m., Waterbury patrol officers responded to 928 North Main Street at Bertie’s Restaurant regarding a motor vehicle accident.

The involved vehicle had proceeded through the parking lot and backyard area of a nearby home, where it struck several objects before coming to a stop.

Officers discovered that the operator of the vehicle, Williams, 38, of Waterbury, had sustained a gunshot wound to the rear of his head.

Williams later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The arrest was the result of a two-year investigation that involved the Waterbury Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, Waterbury Police Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshal Task Force.

Aitken was a juvenile at the time of the incident.

She was charged with murder, two counts of robbery in the first degree, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and assault in the first degree-discharge of a firearm.

Aitken is being held on a $2 million bond.
