HOLYOKE, MA — Holyoke police detectives arrested a man and seized suspected heroin/fentanyl, cocaine and cash in a Clemente Street parking lot Monday night.
Angel Santiago, 37, of Holyoke, was arrested at approximately 6 p.m. May 4 after detectives encountered him allegedly selling drugs on Clemente Street, according to Police Chief Brian Keenan.
Detectives were in the area of Clemente Street and Cabot Street checking code violations related to abandoned motor vehicles, food trailers and trash scattered throughout the lot when they encountered Santiago.
Detectives recovered several bundles and a half-pack of 50 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl and several vials of suspected cocaine after Santiago was detained.
Following his arrest, detectives recovered more than $1,000, a knife and additional suspected heroin/fentanyl on Santiago.
In total, detectives recovered 1.875 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl and .32 grams of suspected cocaine/crack-cocaine.
Santiago has two prior convictions for drug distribution.
Santiago is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, subsequent offense; possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, subsequent offense; possession of a Class A drug, subsequent offense; and possession of a Class B drug, subsequent offense.
