iPad seller scammed in Mechanicsburg

MECHANICSBURG, PA — Police are investigating after a resident was scammed out of money while attempting to sell an iPad online.

The victim, who lives in the 500 block of West Main Street, contacted police at approximately 11:06 p.m. on April 21, 2026.

The victim was contacted by an individual who said they needed to pay more than the asking price for the iPad and requested the victim send the extra money back.

The victim was provided a phone number, and an individual walked them through setting up a PayPal business account.

After setting up the account, the victim was told to send the money and would be sent money back.

The victim did not receive the money and can no longer contact the individual.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the police department.
