BROADALBIN, NY — The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company responded to a brush fire on County Highway 107 in the Town of Broadalbin on Monday at 3:42 p.m.
The Perth Volunteer Fire Company was toned-out for automatic mutual aid.
A lithium battery being used had exploded and caught a wood pile on fire, according to reports.
A Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company incident commander upgraded the call to a structure fire due to the proximity to a building.
Perth was asked to send a tanker and brush truck to the scene.
A truck was sent to set up a water source for tankers from Broadalbin, Perth and the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was notified.
The fire never escalated to become an actual structure fire.
The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Auxiliary provided support to all responders.
Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company and Perth fire police closed down the road.
