BERN TOWNSHIP, PA — A man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a car dealership during what was supposed to be a vehicle viewing.
Christian Boateng visited a local car dealership on April 22, 2026, and requested a test drive.
Staff denied the request due to his lack of a valid driver’s license but agreed to show him the vehicle.
While viewing the car, Boateng fled the scene in the vehicle, according to Bern Township Police.
Police were immediately notified and alerted surrounding agencies.
Within the hour, the stolen vehicle was spotted near Wyomissing.
Following a coordinated effort by multiple agencies and a brief vehicle and foot pursuit, Boateng was taken into custody.
Boateng has been charged with vehicle-related thefts.
He was arraigned and committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
