NEW HOPE, PA — Police are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in the theft of a George Washington painting from a restaurant.
The New Hope Borough Police Department said the incident occurred April 22, 2026, at approximately 1:17 p.m. at The Salt House, located at 7 East Ferry Street.
Police said the suspect entered the restaurant, removed a painting of George Washington from a wall and walked out with it.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 70s, short in stature and heavier set with mid-length gray hair.
He was wearing a black leather jacket and light-colored shoes.
Police said he was driving a white Toyota SUV with New Jersey registration plates possibly beginning with C95.
