Man arrested on forgery charge in West Greenwich

WEST GREENWICH, RI — A New Jersey man was arrested on forgery and counterfeiting charges following a traffic stop on Route 95 North.

Emil Munguia Matamoros, 42, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was taken into custody at 8:16 a.m. Wednesday.

Troopers charged Matamoros with forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates and giving false documents to a public official.

He was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks and released on a misdemeanor summons with a future Third Division District Court arraignment date.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested Ranfi Castillo, 36, of Cranston, at 6:31 p.m. Wednesday.

Castillo was charged with possession of a Schedule I to V controlled substance – 10 grams or less (Psilocin).

The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation, and the Cranston Police Department located Castillo.

He was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released with a future Third Division District Court arraignment date.
