WIND GAP, PA — Police arrested a Pennsylvania man on drug and DUI charges after responding to a report of a reckless driver.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:56 p.m. Feb. 18 to a report of a reckless driver on Male Road.
A caller reported observing a vehicle swerving and striking the curb before parking in the Dollar Tree parking lot.
Officers located the vehicle and contacted the driver, identified as Jared Michael Simanton, 35, of Simanton, Pennsylvania.
Officers observed indicators of impairment and conducted field sobriety exercises where additional indicators of impairment were observed.
A consent search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a smoking pipe containing cocaine and a THC vape pen.
Simanton was placed under arrest for DUI and upon being searched officers located a wax paper bag containing heroin/fentanyl.
Simanton underwent a drug influence evaluation from a drug recognition expert from Nazareth Police Department who determined Simanton was impaired.
Simanton submitted to a blood test and the results showed he had cocaine and metabolites in his system.
Simanton was charged with DUI controlled substance Schedule II/III, DUI controlled substance metabolites, DUI controlled substance general impairment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and various traffic offenses.
