NEWTON, MA — Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Newton Chief of Police Timothy Cohoon have confirmed the ongoing investigation into a fatal crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Newton.
The preliminary information suggests that at approximately 3:42 p.m., a car was traveling eastbound on Beacon Street when it crossed over the yellow lines, striking another vehicle head on.
The 83-year-old driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The two occupants of the vehicle that was struck did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
This crash is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Newton Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
