BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Maryland man faces multiple charges after a hit-and-run crash that damaged utility poles, power lines and eight homes.
Officers responded to the area of North Lakeshore Drive near the intersection of Duquesne Boulevard at approximately 6:20 a.m. April 12, 2026, for a report of a motor vehicle accident with multiple utility poles and power lines down.
Officers arrived on scene and also observed damage to multiple residences.
Due to a danger to the public’s safety, officers shut down the roadway for multiple hours.
It was later determined eight residences sustained structural damage as a result of the crash.
Traffic Safety Officer Vincent Rustico was assigned to investigate the hit-and-run crash.
With the assistance of surveillance camera footage from businesses in the area of the collision, Officer Rustico was able to determine that the suspect vehicle was coming from a recent delivery at a local business.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Lawrence E. Preston, of Lanham, Maryland.
Preston was issued the following summonses: leaving the scene of a crash, failure to report a crash, careless driving, improper U-turn and failure to maintain lane.
