Woman charged with burglary in Brushton

BRUSHTON, NY — New York State Police have charged a Burke woman with burglary and endangering the welfare of a disabled person following an incident at an apartment in the village.

Tina M. Debyah, 50, of Burke, was charged April 21, 2026, with Burglary in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the First Degree.

Troopers responded to an apartment on Washington Street at approximately 9:43 p.m. April 20, 2026, for a report of a larceny.

An investigation determined that an unknown female unlawfully entered the residence and placed a blanket over the victim’s head.

The victim suffers from cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair.

While inside the apartment, the suspect removed a safe belonging to the victim.

The suspect did not have permission to enter the residence or to take the property.

Through investigation, State Police identified Debyah as the individual responsible for the burglary and larceny.

Debyah was processed at SP Malone and subsequently arraigned in the Town of Moira Court.

She was remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
