TROY, VT — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Vermont Route 101 and Vermont Route 242 left both vehicles totaled and sent one person to the hospital early Sunday morning.
Vermont State Police, Troy Fire Department and Newport EMS responded to the scene at 5:52 a.m. April 20.
Noah Smith, 25, of Newport Town, was traveling north on Vermont Route 101 when he attempted to pass on the left as Tonya Brown, 43, of Newport City, was turning left from Vermont Route 101 onto Vermont Route 242, causing the vehicles to collide.
Smith was transported to North Country Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Brown sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
Both operators were wearing seat belts.
Smith was driving a 2021 Ford F-250, and Brown was operating a 2024 Ford Escape.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
Road conditions were snow and ice, and it was snowing at the time of the crash.
