Two arrested on drug charges in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Two men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Main Street on April 20, 2026.

Members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a 2015 Nissan traveling eastbound on Main Street at approximately 5:40 p.m. for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator was identified as Rayshawn I. Casanova, 30, of Troy, and the front seat passenger as Atrayu Felix, 29, of Poughkeepsie.

State Police K-9 Fortini conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 1 gram of MDMA and approximately 0.8 grams of Adderall.

A probable cause search of both occupants revealed Felix to be in possession of a glass stem containing crack cocaine residue.

Casanova was found to be in possession of approximately 39.8 grams of crack cocaine.

Felix was arrested and charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, all class A misdemeanors.

He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Casanova was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (narcotic drug), a class B felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (intent to sell), a class B felony; and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, class A misdemeanors.

Casanova was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released on his own recognizance.
