Scam attempt reported in Hollis

HOLLIS, NH — The Hollis Police Department was made aware of a scam attempt involving the impersonation of department personnel on April 20.

The person claimed to be Captain Jon Tate and accused the victim of illegal activities.

When the scammer contacted the victim, the caller ID showed the caller as “Town of Hollis Police Department.”

The Hollis Police Department will not ask for payment over the phone and will not ask for personal information.

Anyone who receives a call from the Hollis Police Department that they are suspicious of should hang up and call the non-emergency line at 603-465-7637 or come to the police department to confirm the legitimacy of the contact.
