Police investigate threatening TikTok posts in New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Police Department is investigating threatening TikTok posts directed at New Canaan High School.

The investigation is being conducted in coordination with the Connecticut Intelligence Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Detectives are working to identify the individual or individuals responsible for the posts, which included derogatory content and messages suggesting students stay home from school.

Police have determined the posts originated from out of state.

The department has concluded there is no credible threat to New Canaan High School, the town or the broader community.

Extra police presence was visible at the high school as a precautionary measure, and officers will continue to monitor the situation.

Police are reminding students and families to be mindful of what personal information they share on social media platforms, noting many accounts are created anonymously with malicious or controversial intent.
