WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, NY — State Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Nicholas Coughlin, of White Sulphur Springs, was arrested April 17, 2026, following an investigation by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit.
Coughlin is charged with promote an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, a class D felony.
He also faces one count of possessing obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16, possess/access, a class E felony.
Additionally, Coughlin is charged with three counts of possessing sexual performance by a child less than 16, possess/access to view, a class E felony.
He is accused of promoting, possessing and having access to several images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
The investigation began after the Troop F Computer Crimes Unit received a CyberTip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
A search warrant was executed at Coughlin’s residence in White Sulphur Springs on April 17, 2026.
Troop F Computer Crimes Unit was assisted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Liberty, Troop F Community Stabilization Unit, New York State Police Special Operations Response Team, State Police Liberty Uniform, New York State Police K9 Gray, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Coughlin was transported to State Police Liberty for processing without incident.
He was arraigned at Liberty Town Court on April 17, 2026, and was remanded to Sullivan County jail.
Bail was set at $25,000 in cash, $75,000 in bond, or $250,000 in secured bond.
Coughlin’s next court date is scheduled for April 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Town of Liberty Court.
