LUNENBURG, VT — A New Hampshire man has been cited after authorities say he entered a municipal fire truck and moved it while firefighters were responding to an illegal burn.
Vermont State Police received a report from the Lunenburg Fire Department at approximately 10:49 p.m. April 17, 2026.
Firefighters were extinguishing an illegal burn on Walker Pit Road when a civilian entered a municipal fire truck and moved it down the road, police said.
The civilian left the scene before troopers arrived.
Witnesses identified the man as Kaiden Wildenstein, 20, of Monroe, New Hampshire.
Wildenstein was located April 19, 2026, and was issued a citation to appear in Essex County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
He was cited for operation without consent of owner and unlawful trespass into a motor vehicle.
