Man arrested on menacing charge in Bath

BATH, NY — A 70-year-old man was arrested April 19, 2026, after allegedly threatening to shoot his neighbors over barking dogs.

Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Shannon Street at approximately 6:59 a.m. for a report of a neighbor dispute.

It was reported that a male had threatened to shoot his neighbors because their dogs were barking.

The suspect was quickly located and identified as Rory G. Speer, of Bath.

Speer was taken into custody without incident.

Speer is charged with one count of menacing in the third degree, a Class B misdemeanor.

Speer was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP Court where he was released prior to being booked into the jail due to New York state bail reform.
