WOONSOCKET, RI — A Woonsocket man was arrested on a bench warrant following a traffic stop on Robinson Street.
Anthony Melendez, 41, of Woonsocket, was taken into custody at 11:30 a.m. on a Providence Superior Court bench warrant for failure to appear for a technical violation hearing.
The original charge stemmed from a domestic violence breaking and entering case from the Woonsocket Police Department.
Melendez was transported to state police headquarters, processed and later turned over to Providence Superior Court.
In a separate incident, troopers arrested a Tiverton woman on public assistance fraud charges at 6:30 p.m.
Jennifer Darling, 49, of Tiverton, was charged with false statement to obtain replacement public assistance check over $500, fraudulently obtain public assistance over $500, and giving false document to agent, employee or public official.
The arrest resulted from a barracks investigation, and Little Compton police located Darling.
She was transported to headquarters, processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.
Darling was released with a future Third Division District Court date.
