Man arrested on weapons charges in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly threatening someone with an axe during an altercation on the city’s south side.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a residence at approximately 6:15 p.m. April 4 for a report of a person with a weapon.

Police determined that Demetrius Goldsmith had menaced the victim with an axe during the altercation.

Officers located Goldsmith inside the residence and took him into custody without further incident.

Police also discovered that Goldsmith had an outstanding arrest warrant through Jamestown City Court.

Goldsmith was transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

He will be charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, in addition to the warrant.

Goldsmith is being held pending arraignment.
