Woman arrested on felony larceny charge in Fort Edward

FORT EDWARD, NY — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman on a felony Grand Larceny charge following a joint investigation into the fraudulent receipt of SNAP benefits, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.

Heather L. Carson, 40, of Granville, New York, was arrested Wednesday on Broadway in the Town of Fort Edward.

The investigation, conducted by Investigator J. Dalaba-Brockway in coordination with the Washington County Department of Social Services, determined that Carson had failed to report earned income from employment while actively receiving SNAP benefits.

The investigation found that Carson received $2,173 in benefit payments she was not eligible to receive.

The conduct was found to have originated on or around Dec. 1, 2023.

Carson was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony.

She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Fort Edward Court at a later date.
